Tenant involvement

Our commitment

We are committed to involving you, and all other tenants and residents, in running the housing service, and in decisions that affect your home and estate.

The tenancy agreement - our legal contract with you - says that "We must ask your views about any of the city council's housing plans if they substantially affect you . . . we will involve you or your tenants' group in local housing issues".

Our public commitment to involving tenants and residents means that . . .

  • you have the legal right to be consulted, and will be encouraged to get involved in the housing service;
  • you have the right to start or join a local tenants' and residents' group;
  • we will encourage, support and promote involvement by individuals and the community as a whole - at local and city-wide level;
  • we will give you accurate, honest and timely information and use genuine and effective consultation methods;
  • we will use consultation to find out what concerns tenants - not just to solve problems.
