Looking for a private home to rent
Finding a privately-rented home
You can find private rented accommodation by:
- Looking in newspapers and magazines. The Manchester Evening News has a large list of homes - especially on Thursday. Also try 'Loot' and 'City Life'
- Checking internet sites like http://www.fish4.co.uk/ or http://www.rentamatic.co.uk/ (external sites)
- Looking in local shop windows or supermarket noticeboards
- Contacting local estate agents - many now run letting agencies
- Talking to your accommodation service if you are a student, or talking to 'Manchester Student Homes' - visit their office in the university precinct, phone them on 0161 275 7680 or check available homes on their web site: http://www.manchesterstudenthomes.com/ (external site).
- Signing up with a lettings agency - a company that makes money by putting people in touch with landlords. They usually charge a fee for the service, but you only have to pay if they find you somewhere to live.
