Fostering Agency Transfer
Agency Transfer to Foster for Manchester
Foster carers currently registered with a private fostering agency are able to transfer to foster for Manchester City Council. The process for transferring to Manchester City Council differs dependent upon your current placement circumstances.
Our policy for transferring foster carers to Manchester City Council considers the needs of any looked after child or young person in placement. We therefore practice and advise our applicants to practice the very best procedure in line with your current Local Authority or private fostering agency's guidelines for transferring. We also reference and adhere to industry guidelines for transferring. We do not allow a lapse in approval and so work closely with the other agency.
If you are currently approved with another Local Authority or private fostering agency and wish to transfer to Manchester City Council, we will still carry out the appropriate application and assessment process. In the first instance we will send a Fostering Information Pack outlining our service and expectations. We would then arrange a protocol meeting with the QA Team Manager and a representative from your current fostering agency to discuss your current circumstance and the best way to proceed with the agency transfer.
To transfer to foster for Manchester City Council it is required that you give 28 days notice in writing to your existing Local Authority or private fostering agency informing them of your wish to resign. Please note that Manchester City Council may contact your current / former agency for a reference before you make your formal application to join us.
If you don't have currently have any placements a protocol meeting isn't automatically required, and the process is more flexible.
