Be the difference - foster for Manchester

What is fostering?

Fostering is looking after a child or young person in your home when,
for whatever reason, they are not able to live at home with their birth
parent(s).

There are many reasons why we may need to arrange for children and young people to be looked after:

  • Their parent(s) may be ill or going through a particularly
challenging time in their lives when they find it difficult to care
    for their children.
  • Their parent(s) may have a drug or alcohol problem that prevents
them from being able to care for their children.
  • Their parent(s) may need help sorting out problems.
  • To help the child or young person through a difficult period in
    their life.
  • The child or young person may have suffered some form of abuse
    or neglect.

"Fostering is the very best thing we have ever done. It is so rewarding
and we both love it." Amanda - foster carer
