ContactPoint Decommissioning Arrangements

Stakeholder Communication

As you may now be aware, the government recently confirmed its intentions to close down ContactPoint, and the DfE have now informed us that ContactPoint will be closed in a managed, secure and controlled way at noon on 6 August 2010, allowing time for us to undertake the necessary activities prior to switch off.

Although ContactPoint is being decommissioned, it is important that you still continue to use the CAF process. Please ensure you continue to;

  • Register your CAFs with the central team within the Children's Trust
  • Inform the team who the Lead professional is
  • Inform the team when a CAF episode ends and why

You are still able to check with the ContactPoint team whether or not a CAF exists. All contact details remain the same.

Tel: 0161 2347214
Email: CAFIT@manchester.gov.uk

Address
Children's Trust Arrangements,
2nd Floor Overseas House,
Quay Street,
Manchester,
M3 3BB.

If you have completed a CAF and have not yet registered it, it is not too late to do so.

All tokens need to be returned to the DfE by 13 August, so if you are an existing user and still have your token then please speak with your line manager and arrange for the token to be returned.

We have contacted all existing ContactPoint users to revoke access and start the process of getting the security tokens returned. These will be collated by the team and then returned to the DfE.

From the time it is switched off, ContactPoint will no longer be accessible to users or to data administrators. Decommissioning the database will take longer and will be done in compliance with Government security and operational standards, but this will be managed by the DfE.

We were well prepared for this eventuality in Manchester. We had already started to revoke access at a local level and many of the tokens have been returned to us. The only activity left to do is to transfer the CAF indicators from ContactPoint to the Capita ONE system, which will now become the central record of whether or not a CAF has been completed.
