Fire Safety Legislation

Fire in Dale Street 2007

The law regarding fire safety changed on 1 October 2006 by the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which replaced the Workplace (Fire Safety) Regulations, and consolidated countless other pieces of separate fire safety law.

Building Regulation 38 (Fire Safety Information) was created to assist owners/users of buildings to comply with the fire safety order by requiring a notice to be provided to Building Control upon completion of building work, stating that fire safety information has been supplied to the responsible person.
