Manchester City Council

Business & investment Manchester Enterprise Zone and business rates discounts

Business rate discounts

The government introduced Enterprise Zones in the 2011 budget. Their aim is to stimulate business growth by providing financial incentives directly to businesses and to councils.

The Manchester Airport City Enterprise Zone is a string of linked sites focused around Manchester Airport, Wythenshawe Centre and University Hospital South Manchester Foundation Trust.  If you are a business moving into the zone between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2015 you could receive a financial incentive as a discount in your business rates for up to five years.

This is a complex area that is covered by legislation and businesses are advised to read all the guidance and seek advice before submitting an application form or committing to a move into the zone.
