Training and support for Shared Lives providers

Training opportunities

We provide training free of charge to help you develop the skills, confidence and knowledge you need to be a good provider.

Some of our training is in the form of workbooks and your Shared Lives worker is available to help.

You can also access specialist training, including around mental health, dementia and autism, depending on the service you are offering and the needs of the person placed with you.

Ongoing support

Your Shared Lives worker will be available to support you. We will keep in regular touch with your and also carry out monitoring checks and visits to make sure everything is going well for both you and the person you care for.

We will also give you details of people you can contact in case there is an emergency. Other providers are often a valuable source of support, and you'll get to meet them during your training and in the course of your work.
