What's On Offer?
The centre is situated in the South of the city in Withington.
The centre is in the middle of the Old Moat Estate, close to the local school. It's run by the local authority with the daycare also provided by the local authority.
The centre provides support activities for children and families. There are a range of services, some of which are run from the centre, and some are based out in the community. A multi-agency team consisting of different services is based at the centre.
The centre currently has the following services:
- Daycare for working/studying parents
- Playgroup - morning and afternoon sessions
- Maternity - anti-natal and post-natal services
- Child Health - Baby clinics, 8 month check
- Housing - drop in sessions
- Twins network group
- Adult Education sessions
- Breastfeeding support group
- Psychological Wellbeing Service
- Councillors Advice Drop In
- Volunteer Network
- Childminder Network drop-in
- Sensory Room - bookings for local families
- Group sessions such as Stay & Play, Baby Club and Yummy Mummies & Daddies.
How do we support parents?
We know that being a parent is not always an easy job. We offer to provide support to parents, who may have a current crisis or may just need to link up with other parents in the community.
We can offer a range of specialist support from speech and language workers through to advice on housing matters. We have an electronic kiosk that can link into the Job Centre and City Colleges to give up-to-date information on courses and available jobs in the area.
Our Ofsted inspection said of us "This is a centre where nothing is impossible". We try hard to live up to that and find creative ways to support each child and family.
