Consultations and surveys Consultation: proposed changes to the sensory support service for children with visual and hearing impairments

Changes to the habilitation officers (mobility officer)

Habilitation officers – sometimes called mobility officers – work helping children with visual impairments develop their personal

mobility, navigation and independent living skills

We propose to have one full time member of staff based in the service and three days a week from a member of staff from Guide Dogs, also paid for by the council. There will be a better way of applying for this service and support will be provided for all moves between schools and into adulthood.

This is a reduction from two full time staff.

The consultation closed on Wednesday 8 February.
