Brunswick Private Finance Initiative (PFI)

Full steam ahead for a better Brunswick

Mother and two daughters

Exciting plans to revitalise and transform Brunswick took a huge step forward after the government backed a multi-million pound improvement package.

It means local people can really start to look forward to new high-quality homes to rent and to buy, safer streets, a better local environment, modernised council homes, and new local facilities including a local neighbourhood office, new shops and sheltered housing for older residents.

It's all through the Brunswick Private Finance Initiative (PFI) - a combination of government funding and private investment and expertise. What is a Private Finance Initiative?

Millions for Brunswick

The government will provide £113 million to support the plans after we showed them that the scheme will give local people what they want, at good value for public money.

In fact we have even trimmed the spending down from the original £118 million - without cutting back any of the improvements local people will see!

As the project develops we will show the government how the plans will deliver everything they promised.

Which partnership?

Two partnerships are in the running to regenerate Brunswick. They are Fern Consortium and Solutions 4 Brunswick. We will ask them both to give us their final regeneration proposals.

We'll look at the proposals in detail and pick the partner in spring 2012, with work due to start towards the end of 2012. Watch this space!

Meanwhile look out for more open days where you can see the latest plans before work starts.
