Rehousing: the guarantee

We recognise the special value of everyone who has chosen Brunswick as their home.

To make sure that local people share in the area's bright future we guarantee to rehouse households whose home is demolished as part of the regeneration of the neighbourhood.

Here's a summary of the main points in the rehousing guarantee.

When will I definitely know if my home is to be demolished?

It's taken longer than we'd hoped to finalise the regeneration plans for Brunswick. But we want to have definite plans, including details about demolitions, finished by spring 2012. You'll get the chance to see the proposals and comment on them before the right partnership is chosen.

I'm a council tenant; what is guaranteed if my home is demolished?

We will offer council tenants who have lived here for more than 12 months a replacement council home in the area, so you can enjoy Brunswick's long-term future.

This will be a like-for-like home based on the number of bedrooms you have now.

To help with moving expenses, we will give you 'home loss' and 'disturbance' compensation payments.

I own my home; what's guaranteed if my home is demolished?

We will offer homeowners:

  • the market value for the property - based on local house prices and the condition of your home
  • 'home loss' and 'disturbance' payments to help with moving costs and other expenses like solicitors' fees
  • help if you want to buy a new home in the area

How can I find out more about the rehousing guarantee?

We'll give everyone affected by demolition more detailed information about the rehousing guarantee, and individual support as the plans are confirmed and the project develops.

Meanwhile, find out more by:
