Data Protection
Is there a charge?
The Council is entitled to charge upto £10 for access to most personal information and this fee must accompany your request. If your request involves information held in unstructured manual records, any other charge will be levied in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
How long will it take to get access to my information?
We will meet your request promptly and no later than 40 days after receiving your request, the fee, proof of your identity and sufficient information from you to help locate the information you require. Your request should include your present address and 2 forms of documentary evidence proving who you are, such as your current council tax or a utility bill, your birth certificate, passport or driving licence, or at least two other similar items including your name, address and/or photograph. You should also provide as much detail regarding the information you wish to access. This will avoid delay in having to come back to you for additional details to locate the information you want. We will also require payment of the £10 charge before we start to search for your information.
Once your information has been gathered we will either invite you to look at it in the presence of a member of staff or send the information to you by Recorded Delivery, if you are not able to visit the Council.
