Services for people with learning disabilities
Joint Commissioning for Learning Disability
The team is made up of staff from Manchester City Council and Manchester NHS and is based within the Directorate for Adults, Health and Wellbeing.
Our role includes:
- commissioning (macro purchasing)
- developing quality monitoring
- developing joint and pooled budgets (health and social care services) and
- expanding the independent and home care sectors
The team has specialist knowledge of working with people in forensic services and provides reports for courts, Mental Health Tribunals and hospital managers. We hold a small caseload of complex and forensic cases.
It also has a specialist Approved Social Worker (ASW) providing support and advice to the community based care managers in the learning disability service and to the Mental Health and Social Care Trust.
