Business Continuity Management
Advice and Assistance Strategy
"Working towards an even more resilient city, ready to do business, whatever the disruption."
Our aim to support a more resilient city is set out in Manchester City Council's Advice and Assistance Strategy, part of our responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Our business continuity web pages try to reflect the risks identified in the Manchester Community Risk Register. We aim to improve awareness of these risks and advise on ways to manage them.
As our work develops, we will extend and improve our knowledge of local organisations. This knowledge will help us to develop our understanding of Business Continuity requirements in the sector and will enable us to respond accordingly.
We will work in conjunction with our internal and external partners, for example the Council's Voluntary Sector Grants Team to improve Business Continuity arrangements in Manchester. We will use a range of engagement methods and use existing communication networks within business 'umbrella' organisations, such as Manchester Chamber of Commerce, with the overall aim of raising awareness and embedding Business Continuity best practice.
In providing advice and assistance to businesses and voluntary organisations we hope to achieve the following:
- Increased awareness of Business Continuity Management within Manchester's business and voluntary sector communities
- Minimise the economic impact of emergencies in Manchester
- Provide information that is useful for Manchester's business and voluntary sector communities
- Complement advice available from other specialists
If you are a coordinating organisation or umbrella group and would like us to provide general business continuity awareness information to your staff or membership, please contact us.
