Multi-Agency Plans for Greater Manchester

Great manchester Run

In addition to planning at a local level and for Manchester as a whole, there is also much work undertaken to plan for Greater Manchester as a region.

'AGMA' is the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, it is a partnership between those ten local authorities within the Greater Manchester area, listed below:

  • Bolton MBC
  • Bury MBC
  • Manchester CC
  • Oldham MBC
  • Rochdale MBC
  • Salford CC
  • Stockport MBC
  • Tameside MBC
  • Trafford MBC
  • Wigan MBC

These ten authorities co-operate on a number of issues, both statutory and non-statutory, where there is the possibility of improving service delivery by working together. For Emergency Planning work, a partnership approach is widely recognised as the most effective, so AGMA is used as one vehicle for improving the resilience of the region, complementing the work undertaken by the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum.

The Emergency Planning Section contributes to the development and maintenance of the following plans at a Greater Manchester level:

  • Media Strategy
  • Temporary Mortuary Plan
  • Religious Aid Plan
  • Highways Agency Contingency Plan

We also hold copies of partner organisations' generic and specific plans as an aid to better understanding/co-ordination of joint efforts in day to day activities, exercises and emergency incidents.
