Disconnections
The Public Protection Team receive notification from United Utilities in the event of a commercial premises having their water disconnected.
We also investigate complaints from employees or members of the public regarding water in commercial premises which has been cut off.
- Food businesses must provide running water to meet the requirements of Food Hygiene legislation.
- Non food businesses are required to provide water under Health and Safety legislation.
Employers and businesses have a duty to ensure that water is available to staff.
What can you do
Ensure your water payments are kept up to date, if you are struggling to pay please contact United Utilities to discuss.
If you are aware that a commercial premises does not have water provisions in place you can contact the Public Protection team who will investigate.

We will investigate complaints about water being disconnected from commercial premises.
