Equality Impact Assessment
Guidance Documents and Published Equality Impact Assessments (EIA's)
The concept of equality or the idea of tackling inequality is nothing new to Manchester, a city proud of its diverse population. Manchester City Council is committed to understanding its communities better, with a particular focus on equality groups. This includes focusing on the particular needs of people who are disadvantaged or discriminated against through age, disability, race, gender or transgender, religion or belief and sexuality.
Tackling inequality of outcomes, disadvantage and discrimination continue to be a key priority for Manchester. Delivering equality and diversity is only possible if there is an understanding of Manchester's communities and the barriers they face in accessing services and reaching their full potential. This valuable information and intelligence about our communities must be at the heart of our business planning and decision making processes to ensure that equality and diversity is more than an ambition but a reality for our communities.
For Manchester City Council, equality and diversity extends beyond just meeting statutory obligations and it is recognised that by only truly understanding the rights, requirements and expectations of our diverse communities can we really deliver exceptional services.
