Fostering is about caring for a child in your own home for a few days, a few weeks or for much longer. Most children will have regular contact with their families, and their parents will still have responsibilities to them. Many children will return to their families. If that’s not possible the children may need a permanent new family through adoption.
Adoption is a when you provide a permanent family for a child who can not live with their birth parents. An adoptive parent takes on all the legal rights and responsibilities for the child that a birth family would normally have.
