Moston Lane Traders Association
Grant of £700 to turn a piece of waste land into an attractive feature for the community by planting flowers, shrubs and trees.
Local resident Anne McBride, with members of Moston Lane Traders Association, wanted to transform a piece of barren waste land into a small oasis. With a grant of £700 and the help of local children they cleared the land of waste and then planted it with flowers and shrubs and trees.
Anne contacted Moston Lane Community Primary School and asked if the children wanted to help with the planting. The headteacher was pleased to give the children the opportunity to be involved in a worthwhile scheme for the local community.
Anne, with help of the children, neighbours, the local street warden and housing officer set to work on transforming the land. And after two hours of hard but enjoyable work an eye sore was made into to an attractive planted up area that will get better and better each year as the plants mature.
Local residents are very pleased with the finished results and it's even been noticed that children have picked up litter from the newly planted area. This success has spurred Anne on to another project.
