Housing Advice for Manchester Residents
For general advice about debt and housing issues, please contact one of the 6 Community Legal Advice Services throughout Manchester.
If housing and debt problems mean you have to go to court, for any of these issues:
- Possession claims for rent or mortgage arrears

Eviction warrants

Enforcement of debts (court bailiffs, charging orders, etc)

Bankruptcy petitions

Administration orders.
You can access advice and representation in rooms 2.08 and 2.18 of Manchester Civil Justice Centre. An adviser is available between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. You can drop in without an appointment, but if you'd rather arrange one, call us on 0161 240 5087 or 0161 240 5036.

Willow Park Housing Association offer debt advice (for Willow Park tenants).
Emergency Harassment Service Private Sector Housing has a service to help you if your landlord is harassing you, or going to "throw you out". Tenancy Relations Officers can give advice over the phone or give you advice in person. In some emergency situations they may be able to come out to your home.

If you are a homeowner and you are having difficulties with your mortgage, the council works with Plumlife to deliver the Government Mortgage Rescue scheme. More details of the scheme are available by telephoning 0161 234 5164 between 10.00 and 4.00, Monday - Friday.
