Libraries Volunteering with Manchester Libraries

There's more to volunteering than you think...

  • Help other people
  • Boost your CV
  • Improve your confidence
  • Learn
  • Meet new people, and
  • Grow your skills.

We have a range of volunteering opportunities at libraries across the city. Whether you enjoy reading and chatting to people, or want to help someone conquer their fears of using a computer, we have an opportunity for you.

We're looking for people who have some time to offer - perhaps every week, or at one-off events. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old. People between 13 and 15 years of age must have permission from a parent or guardian.

In return we'll support you with your volunteering and help you to enjoy spending time with people in your local community.

View the Manchester Volunteer Inspire Programme (MCRVIP) website where you will find many volunteering opportunities across the city. These include opportunities in parks, green spaces, sporting events and events local to you - as well as libraries!
