Libraries Library services for visually impaired people

Our libraries offer services for those with a visual impairment, including:

  • Advice on stock which is available in an accessible format, i.e. spoken word, large print or e-book
  • Information on specialist libraries such as CALIBRE, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) libraries and the ebook library.
  • Computers with Supernova software, used to magnify text or convert it to speech, giving access to standard Microsoft products and the Internet
  • Extended time allowance using computers.

We also offer additional services at North City library and Central library to help you access information independently or with the help of library staff.
