About our Sunday Market & Car Boot
Our traditional car boot is an outdoor element of New Smithfield Market which provides a space for householders wanting to get rid of their unwanted used personal goods.
On our covered and outdoor Sunday Market you'll find cafes, takeaway food and drink, fresh meat, vegetables and fruit, stalls selling clothing, shoes, bags and jewellery, books, audio and video, toys and games, and all your household toiletries and furnishings.
Opening and Trading times
The New Smithfield Sunday market & car boot opens its gates for traders at 5am, with trading spaces being allocated from 6am onwards. Trading lasts from 7am until 2pm, and the last public admittance is at 1.30pm.
Do you want to sell at our Sunday Market & Car Boot?
If you want to sell new and second hand goods there's no need to book. Just turn up and join the queue at the back of the market. Gates open from 5am. Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis from 6am. There are restrictions for sellers of fresh food, such as hot & cold food and drink, ice-cream and butcher's meat.
If you are selling used goods on a traditional outdoor 'Real Car Boot' trading space, the fees are as follows:
- £19 per car; and
- £25 per van.
For those selling new goods, there are two separate fees depending on how regularly you trade:
- £39.50 - casual spaces
- £33.50 - regular permitted spaces (+ £288 six-month permit fee)
You will be charged the full daily fee for every space and part space that you use. You can pay for your spaces by credit or debit card - we do not take cash or cheque.
- Trading space size;
- Applying for a permit to trade regularly; and
- Selling fresh food, such as hot & cold food and drink, ice-cream and butcher's meat.
