Parenting Orders
What is a Parenting Order?
A parenting order is a court order which compels a parent to attend parenting classes and to fulfil other requirements as deemed necessary by the court for improving their child's behaviour or attendance.
A parenting contract is a voluntary agreement between a parent and a school, LEA or Youth Offending Team.
Most parents who attend parenting classes in Manchester do so voluntarily. However, a small number of parents may have to attend a course as a result of a parenting order or contract.
Many parents who where initially reluctant to attend a parenting course have valued the support and help they got through the parenting order or contract .
