Help to complete your Blue Badge application

From January 2012, all applications for Blue Badges must be completed online. There are several different ways to apply for your Blue Badge. Whichever way you apply, you will still need to provide photographs and documents to support your application:

  1. If you know how to use the internet and are able to complete the application yourself and you have access to a computer, simply apply on the Blue Badge website at www.direct.gov.uk/bluebadge
  2. If you have friends or relatives who know how to use the internet and they have access to a computer, they can complete the Blue Badge application for you.
  3. If you know how to use the internet but don't have access to a computer, you can book an appointment to use a computer at a local library. If you are a member of the library, you can use a computer free of charge for up to an hour. If you are not a member, there is a charge of £1.50. Make sure you specify you need a computer with a scanner if you wish to send in documents electronically.

Please note that you must be competent using a computer and the internet because library staff are unable to offer assistance with the completion of your Blue Badge application. Library staff will, however, offer you detailed written guidance to help you.

Libraries also offer photocopying facilities (10p per sheet for black and white copies and 30p per sheet for colour copies). They also offer scanning facilities*.  They will also provide you with a pre-paid envelope so that you can send your documents to the Blue Badge Team.

*Please note Barlow Moor Library does not have scanning facilities.

4. If you are over 60, Manchester Care and Repair offer a home visit service to help you complete your application form.  Please ring 0161 872 5500 to make an appointment.

5. If you are terminally ill, you should contact the Blue Badge service direct on 0161 277 5919, or through your advocate. You may not need to supply a photograph. Call the Blue Badge service direct for advice.
