About Kingswood Park

Kingswood Road Park, sited within the Withington Ward, is currently an open grassland site with trees lining the site boundaries.

The park underwent substantial refurbishment in 2004, with improvements including:

  1. The installation of information boards at park entrances
  2. New gates and
  3. Path resurfacing at entrances

Park furniture installed included:

  1. dog bins
  2. litterbins
  3. new seating
  4. a picnic table

The Friends of Kingswood Road Park successfully applied for a Living Spaces grant of £25,000 to improve the children's' play area. This and additional matched funding from Manchester's Leisure Services allowed for the purchase and installation of new play equipment including 2 sets of swings and 2 pieces of multi-play climbing equipment, all with safety surfacing.

The potential of the site to be a well-used urban green space by the permanent local community to the east and the dense local student community to the west is recognised. The park is predominantly used for dog walking, children's play and by students for informal sports.
