Manley Park
About Manley Park
Manley Park, located in the Whalley Range ward, is a small community park in a busy, multicultural residential area. Since 2006, Manley Park has achieved a Green Flag Award for meeting the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.
In 2006, Manley Park underwent a £150,000 redevelopment programme which has involved repainting of the perimeter fence, the installation of new benches, bins, dog bins, welcome signs and lecterns, the creation of a trek path along two adjacent sides of the park, and the widening of all footpaths and access points.
The site's landscape is composed mainly of amenity grass, trees, shrubs and naturalised bulb areas. There is good potential to enhance the ecological significance of the site.
Manley Park Primary School is sited next to the park and there is an Early Learning Play Centre within the park grounds. Families predominantly use Manley Park for children's play, teenagers' sporting activities, dog walking and relaxation.
The Friends of Manley Park actively work with Manchester Leisure to improve and promote this local park.
