Platt Fields Park
About Platt Fields Park
Ideally situated in central Manchester, Platt Fields Park is one of Manchester's major outdoor event sites. The park has three dedicated show fields with a supported infrastructure for large scale national and small scale and local events.
In 2010, Platt Fields Park was awarded a Green Flag Award for achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces.
Platt Fields hosts the Manchester Mela, Eid Festivals, annual fireworks and bonfire displays, family fun days, "off the street soccer" and cycling events.
The grounds contain Platt Hall, home to Manchester's Costume Gallery, which is free and open to the public.
The park also contains the Manchester BMX Track. This was used as a venue to train in prior to going to the 2008 Beijing Games by Shanaze Reade where she went on to win gold medal for BMX racing.
