Swinton Grove Park
About Swinton Grove Park
Swinton Grove Park underwent extensive regeneration in 2003, and offers a community garden, new play area, multi sports area and picnic facilities.
The site is mainly used for recreational play, dog walking and the hosting of an annual fun day, an event organised by the Friends of Swinton Grove Park and which regularly attracts up to 150 people. The Friends group very actively works with Manchester's Leisure Services staff to improve and promote the site.
The park has an undulating landscape comprised mainly of amenity grassland, rough and scattered mature trees, including the oldest black Mulberry tree in Greater Manchester.
In May 2007 local school children helped park wardens build the park's first Bug Hotel, which is intended to be haven for insects and a feature to promote and increase biodiversity within the park.
In 2010, Swinton Grove Park was awarded a Green Flag Award for achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces.
