Parsonage Gardens

About Parsonage Gardens

Green Flag Award

This small central park is a vital green resource for city centre residents, workers and visitors, particularly during the summer months when it becomes a vibrant and colourful urban oasis used by workers on their lunch breaks.

Parsonage Gardens retains a formal ornamental garden character, accommodating access routes, seating, flowerbeds, herbaceous bedding areas, trees and amenity grass. The site is predominantly used as a relaxation garden by city centre workers, tourists and nearby residents.

The gardens have recently benefited by programme of works aimed at delivering exciting improvements, which include the planting of unusual sub tropical tree species and a mixture of shrub and herbaceous under planting, which will not only improve the site's visually quality but also helps sustain the existing wildlife and encourage greater opportunity for diversification of the city's wildlife.

In 2010, Parsonage Gardens was awarded a Green Flag Award for achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces.
