Clayton Park
Clayton Hall Project - Living History Museum
Clayton Hall Living History Museum
It was with great excitement that the Friends of Clayton Park, supported by Manchester Leisure, embarked on the project to set up a living history museum at Clayton Hall.
Aspirations were to dress, in Victorian style :
- The dining room,
- Sunken cold store room
- The kitchen
- The wash house
- The hallway
In addition, setting up a Clayton Hall history and memory room.
The aim was to provide hands-on guided educational history sessions for schools, in line with the National Curriculum, and also, open the Hall to the public on a regular basis.
Well, we are happy to announce that all this has happened and the Hall is open to the public every third Saturday of the Month.
Work is now on-going with plans to:
- Dress one of the upstairs rooms as a Bedroom.
- Continue with the Outdoor works of: Maintaining the raised Vegetable beds, Creating a herb garden.
Comments received from visitors so far have been varied and many but all have one thing in Common, they love what has been done and is being planned.
If you feel you would like to get involved or help, in particular with donations or loans of suitable memorabilia and furnishings that would fit into the theme, or have memories/photos of Clayton Hall, please contact us at:
