Philips Park
About Philips Park
Philips Park significantly was the first public park opened in Manchester. The park has recently undergone significant refurbishment, and today is a key green space within the Medlock River Valley corridor.
In 2010, Philips Park won a Green Flag Award for meeting the national standard for parks and green spaces.
Philips Park hosts an annual fireworks and funfair spectacular, "off the street soccer" during the summer season and various events led by the wardens.
Philips Park is centrally located within the regenerated Sports City area within East Manchester, which also offers the National Cycling Centre, City of Manchester Stadium, the English Institute of Sport, National Squash Centre, Regional Athletics Arena and Indoor Tennis Centre.
Philips Park is also located within the East Manchester regeneration area, which is the focus of very significant urban renewal and regeneration. This is being driven by New East Manchester (external site), who are responsible for delivering a long term strategic vision for physical, social and economic change in East Manchester.
