Mersey River Valley

The Mersey Valley contains a large area of urban countryside from the Manchester - Stockport boundary in the East to the Manchester Ship Canal in the West. We are responsible for the Mersey Valley sites within Manchester.

Covering many square miles of open green space, the countryside could be nearer to your doorstep than you might think. The Mersey River Valley in South Manchester contains 216.49 hectares of urban countryside over a number of different sites, these are:

  • Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve;
  • Chorlton Water Park;
  • Kenworthy Woods;
  • Hardy Farm;
  • Ivy Green;
  • Mersey Bank Park;
  • Millgate Fields;
  • Stenner Woods;
  • Simon's Bridge;
  • Stenner Lane;
  • Sunbank Wood; and
  • Willenhall Road.
