The Greater Manchester Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2008 identifies four housing market areas in Greater Manchester and sets out the characteristics and future prospects of each . The Greater Manchester Strategic Housing Market Assessment Update 2010 reflected the impact of the economic downturn.

Manchester's Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment 2010

Manchesters Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) 2010 informed the preparation of the Core Strategy and identifies sites across Manchester which have the potential to accommodate new residential development before 2027:

Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation and Service Delivery Needs in Greater Manchester 2007/08 assesses the need for additional pitches for Gypsies and Travellers across Greater Manchester. The association of Greater Manchester Authorities is currently undertaking a study to update the gypsy and Traveller Needs Assessment

The Manchester Housing Demand Study 2010 updates the Housing needs assessment which has been carried out three years previously and assesses evidence relating to Housing demand and potential supply in Manchester. It identifies policy options for addressing the issues raised in the study .
