Environmental problems Ventilation systems

Air extraction and air-conditioning systems

Ventilation, air extraction and air-conditioning systems are often a source of disamenity within the community.

Poorly installed or maintained plant can be a nuisance to neighbours through noise disturbance or fume and odour problems.  This particularly applies to extraction units at catering establishments such as restaurants and take-aways but may also include extraction systems from production plant at other commercial premises.

You may require planning permission to install ventilation, air extraction or air-conditioning systems.

What can we do

We will investigate complaints about air handling equipment and fume extraction systems and deal with problems that are causing nuisance and disamenity to residents.
