Abnormal loads - notification
About this service
Abnormal loads are loads carried by road that are over 40 tonnes in weight, 2.9m in width or 18.65m in length or for which the axle weights exceed the limits specified by the vehicle construction and use regulations. Hauliers who wish to move abnormal loads must notify the relevant authorities and in some cases complete special forms, provide indemnities to highway authorities and bridge owners and obtain permission from the Highways Agency. Manchester City Council are the highway authority for the City of Manchester.
Hauliers should refer to the Highways Agency documents to determine the exact requirements for their particular load.
