Real Nappies
Real nappies have come a long way from the days of terry towelling and large pins! Nowadays they're not only trendy; they're durable and excellent value for money, and Manchester City Council is offering a free month-long trial of a local nappy laundry service to give residents the chance to try them out.
Why bother?
It's estimated that - in the UK - 8 million disposable nappies are thrown away every day. That's a total of 3.5billion nappies every year, and all of these nappies end up in our landfill sites, so using real nappies is a great alternative that will have a dramatic impact upon the environment.
Some people believe that real nappies are also healthier for our babies, because they're made of natural fabrics - unlike disposables which include a variety of chemicals.
It's also estimated (by the Women's Environmental Network) that using real nappies saves about £500 per child over the course of their nappy-wearing days.
Free month-long trial
We are offering parents a free month-long trial of Cottontails Laundry Service - 100% pure cotton, reusable nappies, laundered to the highest NHS standards and delivered to the doorstep each week.
The Cottontails service delivers clean nappies to the door and collects the dirties at the same time. The usual weekly cost of the Cottontails service is just £9.00. If parents bought their own and washed them at home too, the savings would be even more.
