Bin collection issues

What we do

Recycling: refuse collectors

We do our very best to ensure all bins are emptied and returned to your property on collection days.

From time to time, however, things may go wrong: your bin isn't emptied or returned to your property, or perhaps we damage your bin.

If you need extra room while you wait for your next collection, you can request extra sacks using the problem with your bin collection form.

What you can do

Missed bin collections:

  • make sure your bin(s), bag or box is left out by 7am on collection day, at the edge of your property so it can be easily seen from the road, but without causing an obstruction;
  • don't put anything in your bin, bag or box that shouldn't go in;
  • don't overfill the bin as it could be a health and safety risk;
  • make sure the bin lid fits properly; and
  • if you live in terraced housing your bin should be left at the end of the alley that's nearest your home. If your alley is gated please leave your bin outside the gates.

Bins not returned:

  • identify your bin so you know which one is yours; and
  • if your bin has not been returned check around your property and with your neighbours.

Damaged bins:

  • if your bin has been damaged by us we will let you know.

Crew behaviour / attitude:

  • report instances of bad behaviour / attitude by our crew.

Spillages:

  • report instances where we have spilt or dropped items and not cleared them up.

If we haven't done what we said we would do, report the problem with your bin collection to us.

What we can do

We will investigate all instances reported to us, however we will not be able to return to empty your bin (unless it is your food waste kerbside caddy).
