Recycling for students

Living in Manchester

Student recycling

It is great that you have chosen to study, work and play in our city and we very much welcome you.

We are working very hard as a city to reduce the amount of rubbish going in to landfill and would like you to help us.

Find out how to recycle your waste and use the correct bin in your house, flat or apartment.

Living in a Student house

We have fortnightly collection service for rubbish and recycling. Ensure you are aware of your bin collection days and make sure your bin, box or bag are left out by 7am on collection day, at the edge of your property so it can be easily seen from the road, but without causing an obstruction.

If 6 or more people live in the same house you can request new or additional bins.

Students in halls of residence

All student halls of residence have recycling facilities ask your warden exactly what you can recycle.

End of term

Just because you are leaving your accommodation it doesn't mean you can leave your rubbish behind.  At the end of each year think about how to dispose of your rubbish in a responsible way.  Why don't you Reduce, Reuse, Recycle or request bulky items of waste to be collected.
