Advice for consumers and traders
The Trading Standards Service affects the life of everyone who lives in, trades in, or visits the city for work or leisure. We are responsible for enforcing a wide range of criminal legislation aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining standards of fair trading.

Trading Standards officers visit shops, pubs, garages, restaurants, petrol stations and other businesses such as credit agencies, wholesalers and importers.
We carry out checks on road vehicles to make sure they are not overloaded.
We ensure weights and measures of goods are accurate and that they are sold as described.
