Manchester Event Volunteers

John, who is originally from Manchester and is eighty-five years old, is the most experienced, and was one of MEV's original volunteers.

Such is his dedication to volunteering; he has received an MBE for his unbridled commitment. His love for sport has led him all over the world, and he was previously involved with the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. Incredibly John even paid his own way to volunteer at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne last year. John is a regular face at Manchester's sporting events and is showing no sign of relenting his commitment to sport.

John commented: "I am delighted to be able to follow my passion for the sport all over the world from Manchester in 2002 to my  memorable trip to Melbourne back in 2006. Age is merely a number and I have plans to carry on volunteering for many years to come.
Being involved with MEV and having the chance to volunteer for such prestigious events in my home town is quite simply too good to miss.

younger members might benefit from gaining new skills or qualifications, though I think, for me, the enjoyment of working on such exciting events is enough for now!"
