Capital Expenditure

Capital expenditure is spent on the purchase or improvement of fixed assets that have a long-term value to the Council, like land and buildings. The Council receives the benefit from the capital expenditure over a longer period of time (over one year), making it easier to spread the cost over that period.

The Council spent £267 million in 2007/08 on various programmes and a summary is included below:
