Preventing homelessness
Contacting the homelessness service
Our homelessness service is an emergency service: before you use it look at the options and advice for preventing homelessness.
If you have done this, and still think you may be entitled to help from our homelessness service, contact us.
We can only usually help you if you have a 'connection to Manchester'. You have this connection if you have:
- lived in the area covered by Manchester City Council (see map) for at least six of the last 12 months; or
- you have lived in Manchester for at least three of the last five years; or
- you have a parent, brother or sister who has lived in Manchester for at least five years; or
- you work in Manchester.
How to contact us
Telephone the Duty Officer on 0161 234 4692.
Normal office hours 9am - 4.30pm
Outside these times, the Out of Hours service number is 0161 234 5001.
We will talk to you about your situation and advise you what to do next. We may ask you to come to one of our homelessness receptions for an interview.Contents of Preventing homelessness
