Preventing homelessness
Preventing homelessness - Investigation and decision
At the interview we will discuss your housing options and give you more advice about preventing homelessness. We may be able to come up with a solution you haven't thought of.
But if you still want to go ahead with a homelessness application we will investigate your circumstances to find out if you are actually homeless and what service you are entitled to.
If necessary we will make you a 'reasonable' offer of temporary accommodation while we investigate you circumstances. If you turn this down we won't offer temporary accommodation a second time.
Making a decision
When we have finished the investigation we will decide what assistance, if any, you are entitled to. Depending on your circumstances we may have a 'legal duty' to offer you a suitable home; or we may need to give you advice and assistance only. We'll explain all this fully in person.
