Financial help for those going to 6th form or college
Learner Support Funds
Manchester City Council have been allocated a learner support fund to help students at high school sixth forms if they are having difficulty in meeting the cost of essential expenses linked to their course. The Support Section offers grants to help with the cost of fieldtrips and study visits.
You can download a Learner Support Fund Application Form from this site.
If you incur other expenses that prevent you from participating fully on your course, you should speak to your teacher or tutor and ask them if you can apply for help from the Learner Support Funds.
Your application would be considered on an individual basis by the Manchester Student Support section.
There is also an HE Transition Grant available for year 13 students applying to university.
If you are attending a further education or 6th form college, your college will have its own Learner Support Fund to help students in financial difficulty. Any enquiries should be made directly to your college.
