Social services Living with a foster carer

Who foster carers are

Foster carers are ordinary people who like to take care of children and young people. They are from all walks of life and have lots of experience of different things. They’re trained to look after children. They have to be assessed, prove they’re suitable and be checked by a group called the Family Placement Panel. They’ll be reviewed every year.

Once they’re approved, they have regular visits from a supervising social worker, who helps them – and you – to make sure you’re well cared for and deal with any problems.
