Cemeteries and Crematoria
Introduction
Manchester City Council is responsible for the running and maintenance of five cemeteries and one crematorium in the city:
- Blackley Cemetery - Opened 1953
- Blackley Crematorium - Opened 1959
- Gorton Cemetery - Opened 1900
- Manchester General Cemetery - Opened 1837
- Philips Park Cemetery - Opened 1866
- Southern Cemetery - Opened 1879
Before visiting a grave or memorial, you should familiarise yourself with the cemetery byelaws and regulations you should follow when visiting a cemetery.
