Manchester People - February 2012

Love is in the air this February

MCR Loves Feb

February is the month of love and whether you are reading this on Valentine's Day or afterwards, it is not too late to show how much you love the city, support your high street and get some great value deals.

Throughout the month, retailers, restaurants, transport bosses and Manchester City Council are joining forces to encourage people to visit the city centre with a range of offers, as well as special deals on accommodation, public transport and parking.

Manchester Loves February follows the successful summer and Christmas campaigns which saw huge numbers of visitors flock to the city.

More than 80 traders are already involved in the campaign and more are joining every day.

Some of the spectacular deals available in Manchester Loves February include daily offers in shops across the city centre, eating and drinking deals in some of Manchester's top restaurants and transport deals, including incredible Metrolink offers.

Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester City Council's city centre spokesperson, said: "Manchester had a fantastic Christmas and we all know why - our great city has the best shops and nightlife - but now we need to keep that momentum going and since love is still in the air after Valentine's Day this week, there is no better time to spoil your loved ones.

"We want to give retailers a boost through these difficult economic times, which is why we've teamed up with shops and restaurants to make sure there are some great offers for families who are feeling the pinch."

Highlights include an unbelievable Supper Club sale at Harvey Nichols' gourmet restaurant where a three course meal is available for £20.

A range of bars and restaurants are also offering a range of 2-for-1 offers including:

  • Cocktails at Double Tree Hilton
  • Main dishes at Tampopo
  • Tickets at The Royal Exchange Theatre
  • Workshops at The Lomography Store

Details of all bargains are available at Visit Manchester's website - but make sure to check back regularly as fresh deals will be added each day.

The 2-for-1 theme continues with an offer on Metrolink. Tram users will be able to travel into and out of the city centre together for the price of one ticket on Tuesday evenings in February. A promotional voucher will be available to download from the Metrolink website.

Of course, businesses across Manchester support jobs and the economy, so although the focus is on the city centre, businesses from local shopping areas are also welcome to submit their offers by emailing info@cityco.com - it's not too late.

The campaign runs throughout February and has been organised by Manchester City Council, Cityco, Marketing Manchester and Transport for Greater Manchester.
