Commercial - burning of waste

Businesses should not burn ANY commercial waste, not even cardboard.

All businesses are under a legal obligation to dispose of waste in a legal manner, which does not include burning.

What can you do

If a business is burning waste, please contact us and we will investigate.

Alternatively, if you believe the fire is dangerous, please call the Fire and Rescue Service immediately on 999?

What can we do

If your business was to burn waste and it is observed by us, or it is reported to us by a neighbour, we will investigate and take formal action immediately.

In addition to smoke nuisance law, any dark or black smoke from burning at business premises is also an offence, and if witnessed can result in prosecution.
